The mission of the Palos Hills Police Department is to work with the citizens of Palos Hills, to deliver essential services, to preserve peace and order, to reduce crime and its effect, to aid traffic safety and to protect the constitutional rights of all persons.

I hold the members of the police department to the highest of standards. Honesty, integrity and transparency allow for mutual trust and understanding to be had with the public.

I do not believe that any police department can be successful without involving the community. Community based policing strategies foster a relationship between the police department and the citizens it serves. The partnerships between the Palos Hills Police Department and its residents have been and integral part of why Palos Hills is a great place to live.

Together we can continue to make the City of Palos Hills a safe place to live and work.

Unemployment Fraud Alert

According to the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES), unemployment systems across the
country are seeing an increase in fraud of unemployment insurance programs during the COVID-19 pandemic. If anyone believes that unemployment fraud is being committed, please contact IDES at 1-800-814-0513 or 1-877-566-6230. You can also file a complaint online at

Public Safety and COVID-19

The Palos Hills Police Department is committed to serving our residents and guests. In light of the rapidly evolving situation as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) the Palos Hills Police Department will be making some modifications to the services we provide.

Expired Prescription Drug Collection

Effective January 23, 2017, The Palos Hills Police Department will begin receiving expired prescription drugs that residents wish to legally destroy. A sealed drop box is now available in the lobby of the police department and residents may drop off narcotics during normal business hours, 9:00-5:00, Monday through Friday.

The Cook County Sheriff's Department will pick up and destroy the narcotics once a month.

Vehicle Registration Renewal

The Secretary of State’s office has suspended mailing vehicle registration renewal notices in order to save approximately $450,000 in postage costs. Be aware of your vehicle registration expiration dates to avoid receiving a ticket! You are able to sign up to receive reminder notices via email at the Secretary of State’s website. You can also renew your registration on-line.

Be Aware of I.R.S. Phone Scams

The Palos Hills Police Department wishes to warn all residents that large increases in individuals fraudulently calling people, claiming to be an IRS official are being made. Unsolicited calls and robocalls to taxpayers are being made, and they are demanding that people send them cash.

Parking on City Streets from 2am to 6am

Per City Ordinance 10.08.040

No motor vehicle shall be parked, stopped or left standing, whether attended or unattended, on a public thoroughfare, public highway or street in Palos Hills between 2:00AM and 6:00AM on any day of the week.

Overnight Parking Exceptions:

All night parking shall be granted provided the citizen contacts our dispatch centers non-emergency number (708) 598-2151 and provides their name, address, vehicle information and telephone number.

Exception may only be granted up to three times per year for (3) consecutive nights each. Any extension must be approved by The Police Department Watch Commander.

No overnight exceptions shall be given when snow begins to fall until snow removal operations have been completed. The police department may also suspend overnight exceptions anytime overnight snowfall is expected.

Please DO NOT call 9-1-1 for overnight parking.
