Solicitors in Palos Hills

Solicitation and solicitors who are engaged in the sale of goods for profit for themselves, or on behalf of a commercial enterprise as defined in Section 5.30.010(C)(1)(2) and (3), shall be regulated and licensed by the Palos Hills Police Department. 

5.30.030 – Permit.

A. Permit—Required. Every person and organization desiring to engage in soliciting within the city, as defined in Section 5.30.010(C)(1), (2) and (3), from persons or residents within the city is required to make written application to the Police Department for a solicitation permit as provided in this chapter.

B. Permit—Not Required. No permit is necessary for a person or entity engaging in political, religious or any other not-for-profit activity as defined in Section 5.30.010(C)(4) when such activity includes approaching residents in their homes. Persons engaging in the activities described in this subsection (B) must carry forms of identification, including a photograph, establishing the person’s identity and the entity for whom the activity is being conducted. These forms of identification must be displayed to a resident or a law enforcement officer if requested. The activities described in this subsection (B) cannot be conducted unless the person carries the proper forms of identification described herein. Persons or entities engaged in activities described in this subsection (B) must not conduct such activities if a “No Solicitation” or “No Solicitors Invited” sign is exhibited at or near the main entrance door of a residence. The time limits of Section 5.30.140 apply to the activities of this subsection (B).
