On 5 June 2025 police responded to the 11100 block of Southwest Highway for a Deceptive Practices. The complainant explained that unknown subject(s) cashed 2 fraudulent checks totaling $1400.00 from their business account. The unauthorized checks were addressed to Adolso Lopez-Marcos. The incident is under investigation.
On 6 June 2025 police were dispatched to the 9000 block of Del Prado Drive in reference to a Deceptive Practices. The complainant explained that as they were attempting to pay their Target Credit Card bill a pop-up message appeared. The message had a fraud alert notification and a phone number. The complainant called the number, and the subject advised them of potential fraud. The complainant was advised to send $350.00 via gift cards to clear the fraud. After the complainant sent the card and the subject requested more money, they realized it was a scam. The incident is under investigation.
To keep yourself safe from a vishing attack, the most important thing to remember is you should never provide or confirm personal information over the phone. Remember that credit card companies, banks, and government officials will never call asking for sensitive information.
Always lock your vehicle, even when it’s parked in your driveway or garage. Always take your key fob and garage door opener with you.
