Palos Hills Police Department Vehicles
The
police department feels that mobility can be an important factor
in preventing crime. Special vehicles such as motorcycles and all
terrain vehicles can provide that mobility, which allows officers
to effectively target certain situations and areas.
MOTORCYCLES

The
Palos Hills Police Department has motorcycle officers. Over the
years, a number of our officers have passed an intense 40 hour motorcycle
course presented by Harley-Davidson, designed specifically for police
offers.
The
department uses a Harley-Davidson, 1500cc Fairing. The motorcycle
is fully equipped with radios, emergency lights & siren, and
radar. In addition to regular patrol, it is used for parades and
other public relations events. Weather permitting, the officer rides
from April to November.
ALL
TERRAIN VEHICLE (ATV)
The
departments atv is a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou. The
atv, which resembles a dune buggy, is equipped with radios and,
emergency lights and siren, is primarily used to patrol subdivisions,
condominium and apartment complexes, and areas not readily accessible
by car. Along with the motorcycles, the atv can usually be seen
close up at the Palos Fest each summer.
