Palos Hills Police Equipment In Use
IN
CAR CAMERA
In
1999, the Palos Hills Police Department purchased in car video
cameras for all patrol and traffic cars. This enables us to tape
traffic violations and traffic stops. (The system also tapes audio).
The system can be used when an officers conduct has been questioned.
The tape can then clarify the incident.

RADAR
TRAILER
In
1999, the Palos Hills Police Department purchased a radar trailer.
It is a device that displays the speed of a vehicle to it’s
driver. In a California study, the trailer was found to have reduced
speeding from 77% over the limit to 22% over the limit. Studies
have found that the trailers are particularly effective in school
and construction zones.
We
encourage residents to request the trailer be placed in an area
they feel speeding is a problem. Call the station at 598-2272
to make the request for the trailer.
Enhanced
911
The
Enhanced 911 (E911) system automatically retrieves information
about the caller at the time of the call. A computer in the dispatch
center shows the street address and the phone number where the
call originated from. This is a valuable tool in locating emergencies
when a caller cannot speak or does not know the address of the
incident.
